Memorial Garden

What We Offer

Sacred Heart Memorial Garden

The first phase of the memorial garden is now established, with a ramp for access and construction of granite bases for individual plaques and 90 plots. The remaining phases of construction will proceed as need and funding allow.

To date 40 people have registered to have their ashes interred and others have given donations to the project

Phase one of the garden, with burial of ashes alongside the church wall with the statue in the middle, will be followed by phase two when the first row has been booked. Subsequent construction of the garden's burial areas will be around the boundaries of the rectangle that forms the garden.

The plaques are placed on granite slabs, beyond which there is a grassed area that contains the buried ashes  The plaques are a standard size, 6" x 4", made to order by the same firm, but with the family's choice of wording and lettering.  A register of plots booked at the presbytery gives everyone the choice of what is available.

40 plots have been booked so far (January 2017). The purchaser is given a certificate of entitlement to inter upon the payment of £300.  Please make cheques payable to Sacred Heart Church.

The garden is open Saturday (all day) and Sunday mornings. A look round the garden is the best way to get a good idea of how it is laid out and what is available.  Go through the church gate and round the side and back of the church.

The gates are locked Monday to Friday, and after Mass on Sunday, but you are welcome to ring up to arrange to see the garden outside of the open times, ring 0114 2343580.
