Would you like to consider helping as a married couple to prepare engaged couples for their life together? It entails holding a series of three or four evenings in your home with an engaged couple, chatting in a friendly way about relationships and communication. An information evening will be held in the early autumn, led by the married couples who do this at present, to share some insights into what is involved. If you would like to look into it, please talk to Fr Shaun.
Eucharistic ministers and readers: There will be training opportunities in the autumn for new eucharistic ministers and readers at Mass. If you would like to put your names forward, please contact the Presbytery on 2343580.
Church cleaning. We have a big church building! A lot of work has gone into keeping it in good order, for which we are very grateful. The groups are getting smaller though, and it would be really helpful to have some more hands on deck. Some people have been wondering if we could form a new group composed of volunteers who will all clean the church together as one group on each occasion, replacing the rota system of different small groups. Volunteers who already help to clean please tell us what you think about this idea. New volunteers are very welcome, please contact the presbytery on 2343580. On the notice board in church there's a 2 page basis for discussion if you would like to see it.
Musicians! Would you like to bring your music gifts to the celebration of Mass or to a Taize prayer group? We'd love to hear from you and bring you together to talk over the possibilities. Please contact Barbara Hartley.
Young People. Our Youth Friendship Group is for Years 6, 7, and 8. What would older students like to be involved with? Please contact Rebecca Le Count.
Children's Liturgy Group is an invaluable feature of our Sunday Mass for parents with young children, from 3 years upwards. There are three age groups and more people willing to prepare and lead the sessions would be most welcome. Those experienced in this field can provide help and inspiration from internet resources, for those who would like to try but don't feel equipped to do so. Please contact Janina Klapas.

All donations go to the Sacred Heart Food Bank
Gift Aid: The tax the parish can reclaim from HMRC is an important source of income and we would like to encourage any taxpayers who do not currently make their offering under Gift Aid to consider doing so. It is the best way of increasing your offering without it costing you more, since currently, the government will increase each £1 of your personal offering by a further 25p. For the parish to reclaim the tax on your offering, you, the taxpayer, need to make a Gift Aid declaration and we, the parish, need to have a record of the date and amount of your offerings. Offerings can be by standing order, cheque or cash in a numbered offertory envelope. Your Gift Aid Declaration will cover all donations recorded by the parish, including for the Food Pantry. You will find Gift Aid declaration forms at the back of church near the hymn books. When you have completed the form, please hand it either to our the presbytery or drop it through the letterbox. Please be assured that the administration of Gift Aid is completely confidential. If you have any questions about about Gift Aid, please call Janina Klapas on 2312300. If you are considering making a gift to the Church in your will, information can be obtained by contacting the presbytery. Thank you for your continuing support. It is very much appreciated. Offertory envelopes are at the back of church. If you want to start using envelopes please let us know.
Carmel Care: How would you like to be a 'musical volunteer'? Carmel Care Centre is looking for people with musical or singing talent, to join us on Wednesday mornings between 10.30-12.30 to make music! If you have more time you can even stay and have lunch. We especially need someone to play the piano. You would also be very welcome if you have ‘green fingers’ to help weeding, planting and watering the garden at Carmel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Contact 0114 2335727172 Dykes Hall Road S6 4GS
Parish Emergency Food Pantry: The people who rely on the food pantry are very grateful for your support. The number of requests for help made at the door is currently running at about 50 per week. If you wish to contribute to the food pantry, there are three ways to do this: 1. Purchase food and bring it to the presbytery. Canned and packaged goods are best and items requiring little or no preparation are most popular. 2. Make regular donations by standing order with a reference of “food pantry”. The parish bank account details are: HSBC, sort code 404107, account number 21094319. 3.Donate by cash / cheque in an envelope marked “food pantry” and put it in the offertory basket. Please note: all cheques should be made payable to “Diocese of Hallam – Sacred Heart”. There are some marked envelopes at the back of church for this purpose. Many thanks for all your help, including new standing orders received. It really is much appreciated by local people in need.
From Fr. Martin Trask, Sheffield North Dean: Following Fr. Stan's retirement at the end of August, it has been agreed by the deanery priests that from September until the end of the year Fr Andrew Browne would cover the Sunday Mass at St. Mary's, Penistone and Sacred Heart/St. Marie's would cover the Sunday Masses at St. Ann's, Deepcar. During this period, a replacement may or may not be found. In September, there will be a meeting planned either involving all the parishes of Sheffield or just the parishes of the Sheffield North deanery to continue the process that has already begun of planning a way ahead for our city/deanery. We pray that during this time of change we may be guided by the Holy Spirit in discerning how to best shape our city/deanery so that vibrant and flourishing communities may continue to grow.
