A message from Mrs Kelly, our Headteacher: I would like to express my sincere thanks to everybody who kindly donated to the retiring collection, which was held last weekend, in aid of Kakunyu Parents Support Association in Uganda. The total amount raised was an incredible £430 and I am truly overwhelmed at your generosity. Please be assured that the money raised will make a difference to the lives of the vulnerable, disabled children out there. You will all be with me in spirit as I run that marathon!

The collection of milk bottle tops for Yorkshire Air Ambulance is now finished. Do not bring any more. Thanks for all your support. The appeal at Sacred Heart was very successful.

Rustenburg Project, South Africa: During Lent there will be soup lunches on Fridays in the presbytery after Mass. On Sundays there will be a raffle and items for sale in the Hall after Mass. The total raised last weekend was £80.60. On Friday after Morning Prayer there will be Soup at 12 noon. Raffle and Sale on Sunday after Mass. Your support will be appreciated. Thank you.

Regular Giving to support Sacred Heart Church: Offertory Envelopes for 2019-2020 to be used from 7 April are now available at the back of church.  If you have not used envelopes for your Offertory donation in the past and would like to start now, please put your name and address on the list near the envelopes and they will be ready for you to collect next weekend. Parishioners who prefer to give regularly by standing order since this is an efficient and convenient method. There’s no need for cash or to write cheques. If you would like to donate by standing order please set this up with your bank. The parish bank account details are Sort Code: 40-41-47 Account no: 21094319.

Whether you give by envelope or by standing order, if you are a taxpayer the best way to increase the value of your donations, without it costing you anymore, is to complete a Gift Aid declaration. Gift Aid allows the church to claim back from the government on your behalf 25p for every £1 you donate, boosting the value of the donation by a quarter. Gift Aid declaration forms are also available near the envelopes. Please place completed forms in the Sacristy. As a church community, we are encouraged to increase the amount we give to support our church as income is failing to keep up with growing expenses. Please consider if it is possible to give a bit more. Thank you for everything you already give and do in any way.

Deanery Justice and Peace events: Saturday 6 April, St Wilfred’s Centre, Queen’s Rd, S2, half day - Care of Creation and Hallam Environmental Policy. Saturday 11 May, 12 noon, St Marie’s Cathedral - Mass for Creation, said by Bishop Ralph.

Green Gas: As members of the Inter-Diocesan Fuel Management (IFM) scheme, we have earned a certificate showing that 57% of the gas used by our parish in the last contract year was green gas. Green gas refers to gas that has come from renewable sources like bio-therm rather than from traditional natural gas or fracking. We are on course this year for 100% of our gas to be green. This puts you at the forefront of denominations, charities, businesses in taking this step. Our electricity supply is already 100% from renewable sources. The certificate is on the notice board at the back of church.

Please join us for refreshments in the hall after Mass
