New Translation

You may remember Fr Michael and Deacon Tony mentioning that from the first Sunday of Advent we will be using a new Lectionary (the book that contains the Scripture readings for Mass and the Sacraments). This is part of the continuing process of revising liturgical translations.

The changes are intended to make the biblical translations more faithful to the original languages, biblical scholarship, and to provide a text that is more proclaimable and, where appropriate, more inclusive. We have purchased new Lectionaries for use in church, but the changes mean that any missals that you have will not reflect the updated scripture text.

If you would like to purchase a new up-to-date missal you can support Sacred Heart at the same time. We are offering parishioners the opportunity to order a new hardback copy of the missal for £16.95. We expect to receive the books late November, in time for Advent.
